Sweat Sweetie began as a performance identity in April 2019 where Nugent punched a punching bag and read words their sister wrote. The performance turned into a year-long project focused on conflating emotional labor with physical labor. Nugent wrote and designed their Work From Work booklet, co-curated an exhibition of printed off instagram posts called Terms of Use, made video work, and constructed quilts and garments made from digitally printed fabric. This series of works culminated in Nugent’s thesis exhibition Sweat Sweetie. Special thanks to Spoonflower.com and School of the Arts at the University of Kansas for their financial support.
